biography

Lisa Herbers joined JUNAFILM in 2019, after studying Film at Screen Academy Scotland, as well as Business Studies in Hamburg, Nottingham, and Taiwan. She produced multiple short films, which were successful at festivals worldwide, including Donna, directed by Lucie Trémolières, which premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2019. She is also a WIFT Hamburg representative, working actively to enhance opportunities for women in the film and television industry and to make their voices heard. Furthermore, she has a strong interest in environmental sustainability and green storytelling. She is part of the workshop group Storytelling ft. the Climate Crisis and regularly attends talks and workshops on the topic.

Based in the heart of Hamburg-Ottensen, Junafilm, together
with filmmakers from all over the world, passionately develops
material for cinema and television. The company was founded by producer Verena Gräfe-Höft in 2009. With their first feature, “Nothing Bad Can Happen”, by Katrin Gebbe, Junafilm was presented in Cannes, 2013 (Un Certain Regard). The film won more than 20 national and international awards and was successfully received in more than 100 festivals. Furthermore, Junafilm has realised international co-productions with talents such as Ask Hasselbach (Antboy –Revenge of the Red Fury/Berlinale 2015), Asá Hjörnleifsdottir (The Swan/Berlinale Talent Campus/ Cairo International Film Festival “Best Film”) and Katrin Gebbe (Pelican Blood/Venice 2019/TIFF 2019/Filmfestival Hamburg “Producer Award”).
