Alvaro is Colombian-Australian producer and director based in Bogotá who has produced drama and documentary projects in Australia and Colombia. Some noted works include Amanecer (Daybreak), a short film shot in Australia, supported by Australian actor producer Claudia Karvan, winner of 3 international awards, that screened in over 40 festivals; short film Tierra Caliente (Hot Lands), a National Cultural Award nominee that screened at 30 festivals, where it received 3 awards; and music videos Furia for Vina Lynch, starring Colombian actor Andres Parra, El Camino for Alfonso Espriella and Juegos for Los Makenzy. His most recent work includes the film adaptation of a short story found in Colombia’s National Literature Prize winner book Hunting Fireflies, by Colombian writer Carlos Franco, called Under the sand; documentary Motherland, a story that spans over a 10 year period and two countries (in postproduction); and TV Series Ay Hombre, a project he showrunned that in 2020 received production funding from Colombia’s Ministry of Technology and Communications (MinTIC).
