Bio

Born 1979 in Timisoara, Romania, Anca M. Lazarescu immigrated at the age of 11 with her parents to Germany, which marked the beginning of an ongoing search for a place to call home. In 2000 she began studying documentary and fiction film at the University for Film and Television in Munich. During her film school years she accomplished several films, such as „The Secret of Deva“, which attracted international interest and received the award for the Best Newcomer Film in Germany 2007. Her shortfilm „One day today will be once“ started in German cinemas together with three other shortfilms in December 2009 and was invited at several filmfestivals such as Rotterdam and Nyon.
 
She attended numerous seminars on creative writing and script development hold by Martin Daniel (Frank Daniel’s son), Michael Gutmann and Hans-Christian Schmid. Anca also spent time abroad, volunteering in an Israeli Kibbutz and completing a traineeship at CNN and on Disney’s TV comedy series “Scrubs” in Los Angeles.
