Heba Abu Musaed is a Palestinian-Jordanian Film/TV Producer and Director, born in the United Arab Emirates. In 1996, at age 16, Heba landed a job as a reporter for the local UAE newspaper, “Al Khaleej.” Three years later, she became one of the few official correspondents and reporters for Al Banyan Newspaper in Dubai. In addition to being a fulltime correspondent, Heba has worked as an actress in five award-winning plays/performances in the U.A.E. In 2002, she earned a Bachelors Degree in mass-communication, majoring in producing /directing for TV and radio and minoring in philosophy. Between 2002 and 2007, she served as Assistant Producer for political programs and live news coverage, followed by becoming a producer in the current Affairs department at Al Arabyia News channel (MBC group). During her news production years, she covered two wars: Iraq, in 2003, and Lebanon, in 2006. The news coverage report that Heba produced, “The truth according to Detlev Mehlis ,” was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2006. In 2007, she moved to the Creative Services department at MBC, taking on the role of Associate Producer/Channel Supervisor for MBC 1. In 2009, she was hired as Program/Drama Producer and Director for the newly launched company “Baynounah Media Group,” based in Abu Dhabi. During that summer, Heba also studied at the New York Film Academy in Abu Dhabi and received her diploma in Filmmaking. She wrote, produced, and directed her first short film “Nafaq,” a bold film that tackles women’s sexual harassment in parts of the Arab world. in June, having worked with the director of Baram & Hamza in dubai, Heba flew to Los Angeles to serve as the Assistant Director on the film. Soon after arriving, her involvement evolved, and she decided to come on board as one of the Executive Producers. According to Heba, taking part in Baram & Hamza was a huge challenge – mainly from working in a totally foreign environment with a largely diverse cast and crew. Heba dreams to one day visit her home country, Palestine, and live there.
