About AdaptLab
AdaptLab is an advanced course designed for professional scriptwriters and/or writer/directors directors from all over the world wishing to work in the field of adaptation. The programme, supported by the Creative Europe – MEDIA Sub-programme of the European Union, is realized with the support of the Netherlands Film Fund and in partnership with Festival di Locarno - L'immagine e la Parola.

AdaptLab is a long-term training course consisting of three 5-day residential workshops and two online sessions for 12 participants. It follows the whole adaptation process analysing the book's potentials, exploring the different possibilities of its story world, and following the development of the extended treatments and/or scripts with the possibility of presenting the work to a group of  international producers, sales agents and other industry professionals from all over the world during the TorinoFilmLab Meeting Event in November 2015.

The call for entries is dedicated to two different groups of participants that will follow the same course:

- Call for participants applying with adaptation projects (for which they need to have secured the rights)
- Call for scriptwriters wishing to develop an adaptation from previously selected novels

The selected AdaptLab projects will have the possibility to apply to the TorinoFilmLab FrameWork programme in 2016, provided they fulfill the conditions of eligibility (having a first- or second-time director and a producer attached; the first day of shooting must be scheduled after November 2016).

In addition to the 12 projects, 2 Story Editors will be selected to join the workshop process, thereby completing the AdaptLab team. A special call for this training is available here. Deadline for applications: December 1st, 2014.

Who can apply?
Experienced scriptwriters and/or writer/directors that are interested in learning more about adaptation working on non-original stories.

Applicants must confirm their availability for the workshops and the final pitch.

Participation fees
Course participation fee for scriptwriters applying with projects (from all eligible countries) is 2.000 Euro.
Course participation fee for participants who will work on pre-selected novels is 500 Euro.

Scholarhips can be assigned by merit.
