TFL Extended - TV Series 2020


TARGET PARTICIPANTS: International scriptwriters, directors and producers. This professional workshop is aimed at implementing the fundamental techniques and skills necessary to develop and produce successful TV Series. Candidates should apply with a TV Series project at an early development stage.

DURATION: residential workshop in Turin the 12th (from 1pm) to 16th of February 2020.

FEE: 1.700 Euro (+ VAT, if due) per team of participants (max 2 participants).

About TFL Extended – TV Series
TFL Extended – TV Series is a TorinoFilmLab training workshop addressed to teams of international professionals, who want to strengthen their techniques and skills to develop and produce a TV Series project.

The development of TV Series requires a mix of creativity and genuine sense of team spirit between writers, story editors and other stakeholders such as producers and broadcasters. The aim of the workshop is to offer to international professionals the tools necessary to develop their own original and ambitious TV Series projects.

TFL Extended – TV Series is open to up to 25 projects which will join an intensive workshop in Turin, from 12th to 16th of February 2020.

The workshop is a combination of one-on-one sessions, group sessions and masterclasses, aiming at implementing the expertise and knowledge necessary to create TV Series concepts and to acquire a deep understanding of markets, audiences and broadcasters.

The staff of experts and trainers includes established head writers, story editors, showrunners and commissioning editors from all over the world.

Who can apply?
TFL Extended – TV Series is open to international professional scriptwriters, directors and producers. The registrations can be submitted individually or in team (maximum 2 participants per team) and must be linked to a TV Series project at early development stage, which will be developed during the workshop.

The working language of the workshop, meetings and events is English; thus, a good knowledge of English is essential in order to participate.

Confirmation is based upon reviewing the materials submitted and approval of payment.

Participation fees
Workshop participation fee: 1.700 Euro (+ VAT, if due) per team of participants (max 2 participants).

This amount covers workshop training. Participants must pay their travel, board and lodging costs.

TFL doesn’t offer any scholarships for these workshops, but in many countries public institutions make scholarships available for this kind of training.

How to apply?
Candidates must fill out the online application form with all the requested materials – to be submitted all together in one PDF:
- an updated CV for each participant (2 pages maximum)
- project’s logline (2 lines maximum)
- concept presentation (7.500 characters, spaces included)
- audiovisual approach documents (moodboard, etc.), if available

Candidates will also be asked to fill out a questionnaire about the status of their project. Submitted materials should be in English or have English subtitles/translation.

The Workshop

In this intensive course, participants will learn: the fundamentals of creating viable and original TV Series concepts, working in a team writing environment, and giving power and strength to ideas that can meet the markets’ requirements and attract potential partners.

The workshop is composed of group sessions, case studies and masterclasses with TorinoFilmLab experts. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss their work in one-on-one meetings with high profile tutors.

25 projects will be selected to work in 5 groups, each guided by a tutor with a wide international experience as a script consultant. Throughout the workshop, the participants will test the widest range of opportunities for the creative development of their projects by working on the concept.

Beyond the training, participants will have the chance to join the TorinoFilmLab community of International and high-qualified professionals and to network with their colleagues. It might also be helpful to participate in a TFL Extended workshop if one wishes to apply for the longer TFL labs, as the Extended workshop in this case is a great stepping-stone.
