Biography

Ian de la Rosa (1988) is a director and screenwriter. His work as a director includes the short film VÍCTOR XX (2015), winner of the Third Prize at the Cinéfondation at the Cannes Film Festival. It was also selected for more than sixty international festivals, including the AFI Fest in Los Angeles, the SXSW festival and the Gijón International Film Festival. His latest short film, FARRUCAS (2021), premiered at the Malaga Film Festival. It has been shown at festivals like SEMINCI in Valladolid and the prestigious Clermont Ferrand Festival and it has also won awards at festivals such as the Seville European Film Festival and the Vila de Conde Festival in Portugal. Earlier this year, FARRUCAS was nominated for the Spanish Film Academy’s Goya Award for Best Fiction Short Film. It also won the Catalan Film Academy’s Gaudí Award in the same category, making Ian the first trans filmmaker to win such an award in Spain. Meanwhile, he has also co-written the feature film LAS LÍNEAS DISCONTINUAS, by Anxos Fazans, and has worked as a scriptwriter on several episodes of VENENO, the successful series created by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi for Atresmedia, distributed to great acclaim in the USA and Latin America by HBO Max. He is currently working as a script consultant for LA CHICA INVISIBLE, a series in development based on the successful book by Blue Jeans; and for the series TIERRA DE MUJERES, for AppleTV Spain. He is also finishing his master’s degree in Film Research at Pompeu Fabra University. IVÁN & HADOUM is his debut film project.
