In 2026, the TFL Audience Design Fund will assign 2 grants of € 45,000 each to support films internationally co-produced and currently in post-production stage, planning to be commercially distributed at least twice, including one theatrical release. To complete the initiative a mandatory Audience Design Consultancy - structured in a series of online sessions with experts and TFL Audience Designers - guides the film team in the creation of a tailored strategy for the implementation of innovative audience engagement and outreach actions. The programme will include meetings with sales and distribution expert, press agent, session on digital marketing and social media, as well as training on the latest technologies, such as AI tools, aimed at supporting the team in the preparation and implementation of the audience design strategy. The Fund covers expenses connected to the creation and execution of original audience engagement activities, beyond traditional distribution and marketing strategies.

Who can apply

The Audience Design Fund targets international co-productions in post-production stage respecting the following criteria:
- fiction, creative documentaries, animation, over 60 minutes
- involving countries that are part of the Creative Europe MEDIA strand (*) and countries not participating in the MEDIA strand, according to these ranges
MEDIA producers: min. 20% - max. 70%
non-MEDIA producers: min. 30% - max. 80%
- planning to be commercially distributed in at least two territories, one of which must be a theatrical release
- the films’ distribution must be completed and reported by October 2028.

The applicant must be a European producer or sales agent of a company established in one of the countries participating in the MEDIA strand (*) and owned by nationals from such countries.

Timeline

- Deadline for applications: Thursday, 15th January 2026, 2:00 p.m. CET
- Online welcome session: second half of March 2026 (dates TBC, 1 day)
- Online consultancy sessions with the Audience Designers: March- June 2026 (dates TBC)
- Online workshop with the experts: April 13-17 TBC, 2026 (5 days)
- Final online session and debrief: June 2026 (1 day, date TBC)
- Online follow-up and reporting sessions: Autumn 2026 to Autumn 2028
- Completion of the distribution and delivery of the final report (min. 2 commercial releases):
by October 2028
