Aslam Ansari was born in Hyderabad Sindh, Pakistan. His family is originally from Jaipur, in the Rajasthan region of India who migrated to Pakistan after the British rule ended in 1947. He studied in Hyderabad Sindh and then at Karachi University. He moved to Paris in the late 1970s. He divides his time between Paris, Karachi, and Mumbai.
