Deepak Rauniyar is an award-winning film writer, director, and producer. His cinematic focus is on social injustice, particularly racial and gender discrimination. His works have been presented at prestigious festivals globally, including Cannes, Venice, Berlinale, Locarno, and Toronto. Rauniyar's latest film, Four Nights, premiered at Berlinale 2022 and was nominated for the Golden Bear Award. His 2016 feature White Sun won multiple awards, including the Interfilm Award at Venice, the New Voice and New Vision Grand Jury Prize at Palm Spring, and Best Asian Feature at Singapore Film Festivals. It was also Nepal’s Best Foreign Language Film entry at the 90th Academy Awards. In 2017, The New York Times named Rauniyar as one of "The 9 New Directors You Need to Watch". He is currently in postproduction of "The Sky Is Mine", his third feature film, which won the 2019 TFL World Co-Production award.
