Biography

Juanjo Giménez was born and lives in Barcelona. He has directed a couple of fiction features: “Tres” (“Out of Sync”), 2021 selected, among others, at Venice, Toronto and Sitges festivals. The project was selected in the TFL Feature Lab 2018, and it has received received several awards, including the Méliès d’Argent, the Sant Jordi Award for best first film, a Goya and a Gaudi award and three Mestre Mateo (Galician Academy) awards. His previous feature is “Tilt”(2003). He has also directed a few shorts, including "Timecode" (2016), Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, nominated for the Oscar, EFA Best European Short, Goya and Gaudí for best short, and more than 120 international awards. Other short films of his are: “Mussol” (2022), “Ascenso” (2019), “Rodilla” (2010), “Nitbus” (2007), “Maximum Penalty” (2005) and “Indirect Free Kick” (1997), all have been awarded at national and international festivals. Two documentaries: “Dodge and Hit” (2010) (co-directed with Adán Aliaga) and “Contact Proof” (2014).
