Biography

Lane Shipsey grew up in Dublin where she studied Communications. After living and working in London and Greece, she returned to Ireland in 2018, and set up PXL8 to make films, programmes & podcasts. Scripts by Lane have won a prize in London and been shortlisted for several Irish competitions before a new work was selected for this TfL event. Lane balances making independently produced films with art photography. Lane's 2020 short doc, Olive Harvest, won Judges Special mention (Short Film) at the 2020 Richard Harris International Film Festival, Ireland, and was a finalist in the West Side Mountain DocFest, Greece. In 2023 Lane completed the no-budget short experimental doc Cúpla Tunes which takes an idiosyncratic look at migratory similarities between songs, plants and people, wrapped up in a tempting sounds from fiddle player extraordinaire and Gradám Ceoil winner Kevin Burke, himself the product of migratory leylines between London, Sligo and Portland. Cúpla Tunes won the Experimental Film Award at Wales International Film Festival 2023.
