François-Xavier Frantz was born in Madagascar. After graduating in Fine Arts, he devotes himself to experimental theater, working at the same time for a contemporary music festival.
He worked for many years for the “Académie Expérimentale des Théatres”, travelling and working in Switzerland, Italy, Russia and Belgium. In 2004, he joined Love Streams agnès b. Productions, he now codirects with Charles-Marie Anthonioz at agnès b.’s request.
Alongside his creation work, in frequent connection with producers for the last 15 years, he has decided to devote himself only to production for the last 5 years, gauging how the quality of financing impacts the quality of the films.
First production assistant, he has became producer (and co-producer) of some of Love Streams’ projects, among which : “ELVIS PELVIS” by Kevin Aduaka (Berlin Film Festival – Panorama; AFI Los Angeles – Official Competition); “XIAO JIA GOING HOME” by Damien Ounouri (portrait of filmmaker Jia Zang Khe); “CALLE SANTA FE” by Carmen Castillo; “LES HOMMES” by Ariane Michel (FidMarseille 2006 – Grand Prix of the French competition; Rotterdam 2007, Indielisboa 2007; MoMA, Documentary Fortnight Expanded 2007); “MY NAME IS HMMM…” by Agnès Troublé; “DES JEUNES GENS MÖDERNES” by Emanuel Bovet; “KIDS OF TÖDAY” by érôme de Missolz & Jean-François Sanz (Feature documentary), “SUICIDE, A WAY OF LIFE” by Marc Hurtado; “REGULAR BOY” & “MONSIEUR DE SAINT-GEORGE” by Michele Civetta.
