3 #TFLfilms premiering at Locarno 2025

From 6th to 16th August, the 78th Locarno Film Festival will feature an exciting selection of new films. These include titles previously developed through various TorinoFilmLab programmes, alongside new works directed by our accomplished alumni and alumna. Curious about the full lineup?

International Competition:

DONKEY DAYS by Rosanne Pel (Netherlands) – ScriptLab 2020
Sisters Anna and Charlotte have always fought for their mother’s attention. As old wounds reopen and suck them back to their family home, they unravel mesmerizing mysteries, including anonymous ashes and their mother’s love for a donkey. Will they come to terms with each other?

WHITE SNAIL by Elsa Kremser (Austria) and Levin Peter (Germania) – FeatureLab 2021
A Belarusian model dreaming of a career in China finds herself drawn to a mysterious loner who works the night shift at a morgue. Their encounter unsettles her sense of body, beauty, and mortality. The fragile love story of two outsiders who turn each other’s worlds upside down and discover that they are not alone.

THE BIRTHDAY PARTY by Miguel Ángel Jiménez – Green Film Lab  Athens 2024
Markos Timoleon, a wealthy Greek businessman, hosts his daughter's 25th birthday party on his private island. Unforeseen events unfold, jeopardizing his power and challenging his life's foundations.

Our alumna Hana Jušić (ScriptLab 2013 and FeatureLab 2014) presents her last film God Will Not Help within the Official Competition; Mehdi Hmili (Interchange 2012)’s new work is named Exile and will be showcased in the Out of Competition section; while the Concorso Cineasti del presente (Filmmakers of the Present) features Hair, Paper, Water... by Minh Quý Trương (TFL Co-Production Fund 2022) and the TFL Extended former participant Andrei Epure with Don’t Let Me Die.
