Biography

Redmond Entwistle’s work as a film and video artist has been shown at festivals and exhibitions internationally. Since 2015 as a writer and director he has focused on the development of long form dramas. In 2008 his medium-length film "Paterson - Łódź" won Best International Film at Images Festival, Toronto. In 2010 his film Monuments premiered in Rotterdam Film Festival’s Tigers Shorts Competition. In 2012 his film "Walk-Through" premiered at the Vienna International Film Festival and was the focus of three solo exhibitions. In 2013, spotlights on his work were shown at Hors Pistes (Centre Pompidou) and BAFICI (Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival), and included in Assembly, a survey of UK Artists films at Tate Britain. In 2014 he was nominated for the Jarman Award for UK-based artist-filmmakers. In 2015 a solo exhibition and retrospective of his films was presented at MIT List Visual Arts Center, Boston. In 2015-16 he participated in Film London’s New Approaches program mentoring artist filmmakers to develop feature films for cinema release. His work has shown at numerous film festivals and art galleries including Vienna Film Festival, FIDMarseilles, South London Gallery, ICA London, Goteburg Film Festival, National Museum of Art Washington, PS1 New York, Centre D’Art Contemporaine Geneve, Whitechapel Art Gallery, Sao Paulo Film Festival. His debut feature "Lockvögel (Decoys)", producer Busse & Halberschmidt (Germany), 65Wildingfilms (UK) and AgX (US), has been developed with support from Hessen Film Fund. His feature "Success in Circuit", producer Meng Xie (China), 65Wildingfilms (UK) was developed through the 2018 Torino ScriptLab.
