Dubravka Turić is a director and screenwriter. She graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Art at Zagreb University in Croatia.
After a successful career as a film editor, Dubravka wrote and directed her first short film, Belladonna. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2015, where it won the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film. Belladonna was also part of the official selection at Sundance, Rotterdam, and many other festivals, and was a candidate for Best Short Film at the 88th Academy Awards.
Dubravka's second short film, Cherries (Trešnje), premiered at the Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017, and her third short, Tina, premiered at the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2019.
Her first feature film, Traces (Tragovi), premiered at the Warsaw Film Festival in 2022. It has since been screened at numerous festivals, including the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, among others. The film has won several awards, including Croatia’s Best Feature Film by the Society of Film Critics in 2023. It was also selected as the Croatian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.
Dubravka is currently working on her second feature, Rhino, the script of which she developed through the TorinoFilmLab. She is also developing a TV series, Rumpus, which won the CineLink Drama Best Series Project Award at the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2022.
She has also edited over thirty fiction, animated, and experimental films, and has worked as a screenwriter on numerous projects. She has received many awards for her work.
Dubravka is a member of the Croatian Film Directors’ Guild and the Croatian Freelance Artists’ Association.
