Rasha Hosny, is an Egyptian film producer, programmer/critic and script editor. She is a key programmer at Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF). Also, she is an associate programmer at Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) and also worked as a competition section advisor for Silk Road International Film Festival (SRIFF).
She studied Egyptology before earning a Film Criticism Diploma in 2018. She has been working in cinema and film criticism field since 2008. Her writing productions have been published in several publications and outlets inside and outside Egypt.
As a producer, She produced her first short film, "Two Strangers, A Night," while simultaneously working on her first feature film, "Seeking Haven For Mr. Rambo," which has been officially selected to have its world premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, in addition to having its MENA premier through the official competition of the Red Sea Film Festival’s 7th edition.
Rasha was chosen as an international voter by The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) to vote in the 80th, 81st and 82nd Golden Globe Awards.
Torino Film Lab chose her to be a script reader after she was a script editor tutored by Romanian scriptwriter, consultant, and novelist Răzvan Rădulescu.
Rasha has served on the FIPRESCI jury for the 2023 Locarno International Film Festival, 2022 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the 2017 Berlin International Film Festival, and the 2019 Rotterdam International Film Festival, where she was also a part of the Critics' Choice Program in 2020.
She has vast expertise in programming short films, having spent seven years as the short fiction films' programmer at the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts.
Rasha was the first Egyptian and Arabic film critic to be selected for the "Berlinale Talent Press" program at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival.
Above all, Rasha was the Egyptian Film Critics Association's first female president (2020-2022), and now she is the deputy of the board.
