Biography

Wendy Huyghe is a Belgian author and scriptwriter. She started her career as a journalist and columnist. Next, she stepped into the humanitarian world, and for ten years covered stories and created mini documentaries for NGOs and newspapers about displacement, gender and climate change. Today, she focuses on fiction. Her debut film Zeevonk (Sea Sparkle), was the openings film of Berlinale Generation 2023 and got awarded with a special mention. She’s currently writing and developing an animated series (Tommy Pepper) a young adult series (Skate or Hate) and a feature film (Amari). For her scriptwriting, she teams up with her brother, director Domien Huyghe. Wendy Huyghe has adapted Zeevonk into a young adult novel (2022). She’s currently working on Carousel, a feminist dystopian coming of age series (publication 2024).
