Anna Hints is a multi-awarded Estonian film director/scriptwriter with deep roots in the distinct culture of South East Estonia and a background in contemporary art and experimental folk music. Short documentary For Tomorrow Paradise Arrives (2021) initiated public discussion and growth of new grass-root movements against food waste in Estonia. Debut feature documentary Smoke Sauna Sisterhood (2023) won the Directing Award at Sundance Film Festival World Cinema Documentary Competition and Estonian first ever European Film Award for Best European Documentary. It was Estonian National Entry at 96th Academy Awards, was sold to 33 territories, has been to numerous festivals, won more than 40 awards, acclaimed many prestigious nominations. Short fiction Sauna Day (2024) premiered at Cannes Critics' Week and has been to many prestigious festivals like TIFF, Clermont-Ferrand and Tampere. Short fiction Weight of Light (2024) has won national grand prix at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and several awards worldwide.
