CHU Hoi Ying, a Hong Kong born director currently based in Taiwan, is known for exploring fragmented historical memory, female subjectivity, and the subtle tensions between spirit and emotion. Her short film 3 Generations 3 Days won Best Director and the Fresh Wave Award at the Fresh Wave International Short Film Festival, and Best Live Action Short Film at the Golden Horse Awards, with screenings at Palm Springs, Raindance, and other international festivals. Her latest short After the Cat won Best Short Film at Pingyao International Film Festival, Jury Award at Kaohsiung Film Festival and more. Chu is an alumna of the Asian Film Academy, Busan Asian Film School, Golden Horse Film Academy, Berlinale Talents(2020) and Berlinale Talents Lab(2026). Her work consistently examines the complex dynamics of family and relationships through nuanced and expressive cinematic language.
