Eeva Mägi is an Estonian writer-director, working across fiction and documentary. Her shorts include Lembri Uudu (2017), premiered at DOK Leipzig, and The Weight of All the Beauty (2019), which won Best Short Documentary at Melbourne IFF and was longlisted for the Oscars. Her short 3rd Octave F (2022) won at PÖFF Shorts and was also longlisted for the Oscars.
Her feature documentary Who Am I Smiling For premiered at Giffoni IFF (2023) and opened PÖFF Just Film. Her narrative debut Mo Mamma (2023) received a jury special mention at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival First Feature Competition. Mo Papa (2025) screened in the Torino Film Festival main competition and received a jury special mention at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival Critics’ Picks Competition. Her third feature, Mo Amor (2026), was selected for the Goes to Cannes work-in-progress program.
She is a recipient of the Estonian Cultural Endowment’s Awards and the DocPoint Tallinn Young Filmmaker Award. In 2026 she participated in Berlinale Talents.
