Biography

Ismet Prcic was born in Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina. In 1996, he immigrated to the United States. He holds an MFA in writing from the University of California, Irvine. His debut novel SHARDS was published in 2011 by Grove Atlantic Inc. SHARDS was named to the New York Times 100 Notable Books of 2011 list and was awarded the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and the Sue Kaufman Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Prcic is the recipient of a 2010 National Endowment for the Arts award in fiction. He is also a Sundance Screenwriting Lab and Jerusalem International Film Lab fellow with the film Imperial Dreams, which premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award: Best of NEXT <=>. Prcic lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife.
