ScriptLab – story editing is a hands-on training for film professionals willing to accompany writers and directors in the development of their fiction feature film projects. It is aimed at forming professionals with knowledge of how a project can be developed at its best – focusing especially on the script development stage.
The programme is structured into 3 week-long residential workshops and 2 on-line sessions (taking place in between the 1st and 2nd, and the 2nd and 3rd workshop).
4 participants are integrated transversally into the groups of ScriptLab – original (3 groups) and ScriptLab – adaptation (1 group). Each participant joins a specific group, which involves 4 projects and is guided by a tutor, who has a wide international experience as a script consultant, and with whom the story editor trainee works side by side.
Participants will acquire skills in the fields of treatment and script analysis, assessment of project development and script consulting. More concretely: they will improve the ability to work closely with the writers from the treatment stage up to a draft of the script, first helping them digging to find the core of their story, then giving them feedback on the quality of their work and suggesting options for improvements that can be made - maintaining the film loyal to the intention of the writer and/or director.
A pool of Talent Advisors, active in the fields of development, production & legal issues, will accompany the participants along the programme, meeting with them individually at every workshop to assess the progress of their work and to give them broader advice on their project and their career.
A final presentation of the projects during the TFL Meeting Event in November concludes and completes the training: the ScriptLab – story editing participants present themselves to an audience of international producers, sales agents and other film industry professionals, have dedicated moments of networking with Decision Makers, and are granted visibility thanks to the TFL Catalogue.
