Just a few days before the opening of our second TorinoFilmLab Alumni Meeting held in collaboration with the Biennale College - Cinema of the Venice Film Festival, the micro-budget scheme announced the selection for its upcoming second edition: we are thrilled to announce that the 12-project line-up features 4 former participants of TFL, 2 as directors and 2 in the capacity of producers. TFL Alumnus Ritesh Batra (India), who developed his Cannes Critics\' Week 2013 film THE LUNCHBOX at FrameWork 2012, was selected as the director of A PLACE IN THE FUTURE. FrameWork 2009 and 2013 participant Samm Haillay (UK) will be the producer of BLOOD CELLS by the duo of British directors Joseph Bull & Luke Seomore. Babak Jalali (Iran/UK), who participated in TFL as a writer-director developing his LAND at FrameWork 2012, is to take part in Biennale College - Cinema as a producer for Italian director Duccio Chiarini\'s SHORT SKIN. Last but not least, Script&Pitch 2010 participant Edmund Yeo (Malaysia) will bring to Venice his new project RIVER OF EXPLODING DURIANS. Aimed at promoting new talents and offering them the opportunity to work closely with well-known professionals in order to make micro-budget films, Biennale College – Cinema is the brainchild of Biennale di Venezia, in partnership with Gucci. Each of the 12 teams of director & producer selected for the second edition of the programme will take part in a first 10-day workshop held in Venice in October 2013. Up to 3 of these 12 projects will receive 150.000 Euro in order to make 3 feature-length works that will be presented at the 71st Venice International Film Festival. The first edition of Biennale College - Cinema closed with the screenings of the three finalist feature films: MARY IS HAPPY, MARY IS HAPPY, directed by Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit and produced by FrameWork Alumnus Aditya Assarat; MEMPHIS, directed by Tim Sutton and produced by John Baker; YURI ESPOSITO, written by Script&Pitch and FrameWork Alumnus Leonardo Staglianò, directed by Alessio Fava and produced by Max Chicco.
