The third edition of TFI Torino Film Industry – which encompasses the 5th edition of Torino Short Film Market, organized by Centro Nazionale del Cortometraggio, the Production Days organized by the Film Commission Torino Piemonte and the masterclasses and events curated by TorinoFilmLab – will take place between the 17th and the 24th of November 2020, in parallel with TFL Meeting Event (16-20 November) and Torino Film Festival (20-28 November).

After its successful second edition, Torino Film Industry will again gather national and international audiovisual operators and working professionals.
The event will include a total of four masterclasses organised by TorinoFilmLab, as well as a presentation of the professionals and projects trained within the new initiative TFL Up & Coming Italia.

Masterclasses to develop feature film and TV series projects

The first Masterclass will take place on the 18th of November and will feature a “PITCH REALIZATION WORKSHOP” held by Christopher Mack, Director, Creative Talent Investment & Development at Netflix (USA). The workshop will share some best practices on how to create and document the best version of a character-driven series, in order to allow a buyer to easily decide whether or not a specific show is right for their streaming service or network.

The following day, 19th of November, the Argentinian director and habituée of film festivals Lucrecia Martel will discuss her latest creative documentary project, CHOCOBAR – winner of the TFL Co-Production Fund 2020 (€ 50.000). “BEHIND CHOCOBAR” will focus on various practical aspects related to the film, in a talk with FeatureLab Head of Studies Violeta Bava: the relationship with producers, the use of special effects and the challenges behind the realization of a documentary.

On the 22th of November, Lebanese writer & director Michel Kammoun will guide the audience through the world of Script Development. As Alfred Hitchcock used to put it: to make a great film you need three things – the script, the script, and the script. During a conversation with Savina Neirotti (TFL Strategical Consultant) he will examine script development practices by focusing on personal and professional insights, and tackling working habits, inspirations, influences and writers' emotional roller coasters.

Finally, on the 23rd of November, the focus will continue on the writing aspects but related to TV Series: Hungarian screenwriter & story editor Eszter Angyalosy will hold the masterclass “WRITING THE PILOT - Tricks and Tools to Make People Fall in Love with Your Series”, analysing the pilot of SUCCESSION by HBO and COBRA KAI by Youtube Originals/Netflix to crack the code of creating a pilot that people will very likely fall in love with.
