The 9 projects have been chosen between 91 applications and the 3 story editors were selected from 47 candidates. Doing the math, we cannot wait to meet the 24 writers/directors, co-writers, producers and aspiring story editors - coming from 16 different countries: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Peru, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Spain and Turkey.
The squad of experts joining the Lab this year will be guided, once again, by Eszter Angyalosy (Hungary) as Head of Studies, flanked by the curator Eilon Ratzkovsky (Israel). With them, three international tutors, that will support the three groups in which participants are divided during the workshops: Kirsten Ittershagen (Germany), Filip Kasperaszek (Poland) and Cyril Tysz (France); while Anne Feinsilber (France) will be the mentor of the story editor trainees.
The SeriesLab path will begin in June with the residential workshop in Leuven (Belgium), followed by the sessions in Madrid and Turin – plus, some online meetings in between. The entire training journey culminates in the TFL Meeting Event, our co-production market, which offers a great occasion to meet high-level professionals (and potentially bring home some awards).
But there’s something big and new happening this year: as a creative hub, TorinoFilmLab will join forces with the European Writers Club, which is part of Film i Skane and co-funded by The European Union, in a new venture. EWC will present in Torino the results of its third session “Bridging Generations”, involving 16 writers from across Europe, 8 producers, 11 representatives from public and private broadcasters/streamers. Thanks to this important partnership, the TFL Meeting Event, becomes an even richer platform where industry professionals can meet and discover both visionary film auteurs and rising talents from the world of TV series!
