OPEN CALLS & SELECTIONS

SWEAT by Magnus von Horn selected at Cannes 2020!

The Cannes Film Festival has announced the Official Selection of films that should have been presented on the Croisette in 2020, and we are delighted to share that Magnus von Horn’s second feature film SWEAT is one of these titles.

The Cannes Film Festival has announced the Official Selection of films that should have been presented on the Croisette in 2020, and we are delighted to share that Magnus von Horn’s second feature film SWEAT is one of these titles.

SWEAT recounts three days in the life of fitness motivator Sylwia Zajac, whose presence on social media has made her a celebrity. Although she has hundreds of thousands of followers, is surrounded by loyal employees and admired by acquaintances, she is looking for true intimacy.

“I feel very privileged to be part of the selection. I feel hopeful that we will be able to present the film to audiences soon, despite the temporary COVID-19 situation, and the Cannes label will be of great help in that process” said director Magnus von Horn, whose debut feature THE HERE AFTER premiered at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight section in 2015.

SWEAT was developed in ScriptLab 2017 and entered in production one year later. The project was presented during the annual TFL’s work-in-progress showcase TFL Coming Soon 2019. It is produced by Lava Films (Poland) in co-production with Zentropa Sweden (Sweden), Film i Väst (Sweden), ITI Neovision (Poland), EC1 Lódz – The City of Culture (Poland), Di Factory (Poland) and Opus Film (Poland). New Europe Film Sales handles world sales for the movie, while Gutek Film will release it in Poland.

The 56 selected films which benefit from Cannes’ label will have the opportunity to premiere in the autumn festivals, thanks to a series of partnerships.
