Winner of the Bingham Ray New Talent Award in association with Magnolia Pictures (USA), Edwina previously directed gothic opera THE LIGHTHOUSE by Peter Maxwell Davies for Irish National Opera. It toured on stage and in cinemas during 2021. Her award-winning short film ALGORITHM (2020) was official selection at Fantastic Fest (USA) and has premiered at multiple festivals in Europe, Asia and South America. She has several projects currently in development including her Screen Ireland supported musical drama - MAYA BUTTERFLY - and crime thriller VILLAIN with Wildcard Distribution. Previously MAYA BUTTERFLY was selected for TFL extended and also won the Irish section at JETS pitching competition during the Berlin Film Festival. She has directed TV and social commercials for some of Ireland’s leading Irish brands including: Bulmers, Taka Architects, Eir and Paddy Power. On stage she has worked as a revival director to Oliver Mears for opera companies: NIOpera, Nevill-Holt Opera Company, OTC and the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet house in Oslo. Irish-born Edwina originally studied directing at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and is a directing member of Irish Film and Television Academy as well as the Screen Director’s Guild of Ireland.
