Edward Gunawan is an actor-turned-filmmaker from Indonesia. Raised in Singapore and educated in the US, Edward has spearheaded several film collaborations across the Asian region with his blend of East-meets-West story-telling sensibility.
He last produced Josh Kim's debut feature "How To Win at Checkers (Every Time)" that premiered at Berlinale and was selected as Thailand's Academy Awards entry for the Best Foreign Film. He is also an executive producer for Anocha Suwichakornpong's "By the Time It Gets Dark" that premiered in Locarno International Film Festival.
A fellow of Berlinale Talents (Germany), Talents Tokyo (Japan), Film Independent's Project:Involve (USA) and Busan's Asian Film Academy (South Korea), Edward also writes and directs his own short films.
