We are excited to kick off the FeatureLab 2020 programme and to unveil the trainers line-up of this year’s first workshop, which will be held entirely online starting from June 4th.
9 international film professionals from different areas of expertise will provide guidance to the participants, under the coordination of FeatureLab Head of Studies Violeta Bava (Argentina). Through a combination of tailor-made individual consultancies and group sessions on script, direction and production, the 10 selected teams will benefit from a comprehensive training, thus boosting the development of their feature film projects.
Two awarded directors coming from different continents, have been called to discuss and inspire the FeatureLab participants: Valeska Grisebach (Germany), whose latest film WESTERN premiered in Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival 2017, and Matías Piñeiro (Argentina), winner of a Special Mention by the Encounters Jury at Berlinale 2020 with his latest film ISABELLA.
French Producer François D’Artemare, Head of the company Les Films de l'Après-Midi (MONTANHA, NOURA DREAMS), and Spanish Marta Andreu, a specialist in documentary films, will share their knowledge on creative production.
Experienced script consultants Marietta von Hausswolff von Baumgarten (Sweden), Miguel Machalski (Spain) and Franz Rodenkirchen (Germany), will each mentor a small group of participants – a safe space for sharing intentions and giving feedback on their scripts.
Last but not least, we are happy to welcome, for the second year in a row, award-winning Portuguese Director of Photography Rui Poças (TABU by Miguel Gomes, ZAMA by Lucrecia Martel) and sound designer Vasco Pimentel (ARABIAN NIGHTS by Miguel Gomes), joining the workshop to provide consultancies in their respective areas of filmmaking.
The second FeatureLab workshop will be held in September 2020. More information about this year’s FeatureLab selection here.
