TorinoFilmLab cultivates a special relationship with its Alumni, accompanying them during all the steps of their careers. The TFL programmes not only contribute to the production of feature films but also help strengthening many skills: it is therefore a natural continuation to integrate the TFL-trained professionals in our line-up of TutorsTrainers and Talent Advisors!

Here are the profiles of the 5 Alumni-turned-trainers 2018:

2 news names to reinforce ScriptLab and FeatureLab

Katja Adomeit (Germany) is joining ScriptLab 2018 as Talent Advisor. Katja is the CEO of Denmark-based production company Adomeit Film, with whom she participated in TFL with Shahrbanoo Sadat’s second feature film, THE ORPHANAGE (expected to be released in 2019). Katja is also credited as co-producer of Ruben Östlund’s latest films, FORCE MAJEURE (2014) and THE SQUARE (2017).

On the side of FeatureLab, we are happy to announce writer and director Ritesh Batra (India) as Guest Director. Ritesh developed his first feature film THE LUNCHBOX at FrameWork 2012. The film premiered in Cannes Critics’ Week 2013 and was a critical and commercial success around the world. He then directed two other features: an adaptation of Julian Barnes’ novel THE SENSE OF AN ENDING and OUR SOULS AT NIGHT, starring Jane Fonda & Robert Redford, produced and released by Netflix, which premiered at Venice in 2017.

3 Alumni amongst the Script Consultants

French Nadja Dumouchel, German Britta Krause and Egyptian Ayman El Amir: all have been trained within TFL’s programme Story Editing and are coming back in 2018 as Script Consultant!

Nadja will be one of ScriptLab 2018’s tutors, guiding the participants throughout all the programme. She worked at ARTE and Premium Films; as a script consultant, she has been working for Next Step (organized by Semaine de la Critique, in collaboration with TorinoFilmLab), REALNESS and NISI MASA. She also co-founded the scriptwriting programme La Scénaristerie.

Britta is a NYU Film School and London Film School Alumna who started her career as a writer, director and editor. She has been working internationally as a script consultant with other writers and directors, as well as coaching young screenwriters for Kultburo (Moscow), Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf (Potsdam), the Nipkow Programm (Berlin) and NISI MASA.

Ayman is a filmmaker from Egypt. He wrote, directed and produced several films including the documentary HAPPILY EVER AFTER (co-directed with Nada Riyadh), which premiered at IDFA 2016. He implemented the Mahd Film Lab in 2016, a Cairo-based script development programme open to filmmakers working on Arab film projects and Arab-European co-production. Ayman has already worked as a trainer for TFL, in the frame of the TFL Extended activities.

Last but not least, FeatureLab 2018’s team of Audience Engagement consultants is once again composed by former Audience Design trainees: Riema Reybrouck (Belgium) & Joanna Solecka (Poland).

We are looking forward to this new year with all of you!
